Here you can view the 2023 projects accomplished with the Basilica CSA rebate.
The 2023 rebate was $91,722.78 plus $1,303.17 in generated interest from the rebate.
So, the total funds at our disposal in 2023 amounted to: $93,025.95.
(Most images used are stock photos, not actual images of the projects.)
The remaining funds from the 2023 campaign ($38,101.08) will be rolled into the projects envisioned for 2024. We have several major projects anticipated, which you can find on the 2024 CSA page of our website.
The duct work in the rectory attic had deteriorated beyond repair. New ductwork was installed in order to reduce the utility cost of cooling the rectory.
A new missal stand was purchased to replace the previous stand which was corroding significantly. The new stand, purchased at half price, is in accord with the interior decor and architecture of the Basilica.
The office computers were upgraded and needed technology was purchased to accommodate the increasing online and social media presence in which the Basilica parish is engaged.
The Basilica is hoping to add new bells to the current bell, named "Michael," for our 250th anniversary in 2031. Given the repair carried out on the tower earlier this year, an engineer was commissioned to provide a survey report on the structure of the tower and the internal bell supports.
The Basilica's historic bell tower was repaired to remedy mild water intrusion and leaks. The exterior stucco was repaired and repainted.
The hall kitchen was improved with new serving tables, a warming cabinet, an upright freezer, and an industrial refrigerator. As a result, the storage space in the kitchen was expanded and more counter space was created.
Heating and cooling thermostats were replaced across the Basilica's campus in order to reduce our utilities costs. The new thermostats take humidity and occupied space into account in order to maintain comfortable temperatures in a more cost-effective manner.
The outgoing audio system from the church was repurposed for the hall to enhance the quality of sound for our social and educational programs. The system also enables us to record the presentations to post online.
Pads were added to the altar rails in order to reintroduce the use of the altar rail in receiving Holy Communion and for praying at the altar.
The fireplace in the rectory was a potential hazard. The brick grout had deteriorated enough to allow smoke to enter the interior walls of the structure. Both the chimney and flue were sealed and a smokeless, gas fire-log system was installed with safeguards to prevent leaks.
The final work was done on the new audio installation in the Basilica and the streaming system was installed. Now we are able to broadcast our Liturgies and programs to parishioners and visitors who are unable to attend, whether due to distance or disability. The Livestream can be accessed from our website.
